Courageously Embody Your Light

Musings from my diary..

“Courageously Embody your Light”

There is so much behind this short quote that has become my inner mantra turned business motto.

I used to associate "the light" with kindness and doing good in the world. I have come to see it as a bit more complicated than that.

Sometimes when we are shining our light, being our most authentic selves, sharing opinions, asking tough questions, holding each other accountable, following our hearts, etc. we rub others the wrong way, disappoint them, upset them to the point where they feel challenged, get angry and become activated in a way you wouldn't have expected.

I have come to realize that sometimes, in fact most times, the light shakes things up.

That means, when you embody your light, you will most likely shake things up in others.

To embody you light means you may be viewed as a villain in someone else's story. Even when you know in your heart you aren't meaning to be mean, you've upset someone. The darkness in one does not always like the light in another.

Another aspect, though, is that if someone sense's something in your tone or senses a falsehood about you, it is up to you to look hard at yourself, take responsibility for your shadows and how you play in them because when you embody your light, you not only cast a shadow on the darkness in others, but also upon yourself.

To courageously embody your light means to own all aspects of yourself:

the light and the dark,

the yin and the yang,

the parts you don't like about yourself,

and the parts you do.

You must own every inch of yourself unapologetically and walk forth knowing in every given moment you are doing your very best.

In this, then, you are able to recognize that everyone else is also doing their very best and you are able to meet every encounter, every experience as an opportunity for growth through grace.

I believe our courage comes from realizing we have a choice in how we live our lives and whether we believe the things the world tells us about ourselves or not.

Our courage comes from choosing to remember who we were made to be before the world got hold of us.

You CHOOSE whether you embody your Soul (your natural blueprint) or your Ego (the illusions of your mind).

The choice is yours.

Blessings,
Heather
